FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP

Fostering a Supportive Community

Forming Habits. Training Minds. Shaping Hearts.

Parents are children’s first and best educators.

We recognize the primary responsibility of the family in educating children, and the School is committed to fostering a supportive community of families. Therefore we aim to be an extension of the Christian home—a resource to help parents fulfill their God-given responsibility. In today’s information age, it can be overwhelming to know who or what to trust with regards to biblically-based parenting. Providence strives to be a source of helpful and godly wisdom to parents. Below are some of the ways we come alongside families to mentor, build community, and offer support in this educational endeavor.

Bible Reading Plan

Our Class One through Eight students all read from the same Bible plan each day at school. Our hope is that students would read the passages with their family at home, then again at school during Bible time. Our Bible Reading plan is an excellent way to engage your whole family in meaningful, biblical discussion. We hope that this reading plan is a blessing to your family as you shepherd your children in Truth.

Dads' Breakfast and Prayer Walk

In keeping with our commitment to fostering a supportive community of like-minded believers, Providence offers two events towards the beginning of the school year for dads to gather, pray together, and encourage one another. Our Dads' Breakfast is a Saturday morning event for fathers of early learner students and new-to-Providence students. We bring in an excellent speaker to encourage the community and offer time for prayer and discussion. Additionally, at our Dads' Prayer Walk, all Providence fathers are invited to gather to walk the field and pray over our community and school year.

Parent Equipping Events

Partnering with parents in raising children who know, love, and practice what is good, true, and excellent is at the core of our mission at Providence. Throughout the year, we offer Parent Equipping Events to encourage and strengthen parents with children at all stages of development.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

RESOURCES

We invite you to listen to Pastor Jimmy Evans of Gateway Church as he discusses the keys to successful marriage as described in Ephesians 5. Pastor Evans does an excellent job of explaining the differences between men and women and how our sin natures drive us away from each other. We hope that this resource is an encouragement to you and your spouse as you seek to pursue oneness in your marriage.

LISTEN NOW

Chapel

Our weekly Chapel for Classes One through Eight students is a part of the Providence education—training them spiritually, musically, and behaviorally. Our traditional and worshipful service includes singing hymns, reciting scripture, praying, and hearing a message from a teacher or administrator. Parents and younger siblings are invited to attend and worship with their Providence students.

Other Community-building Opportunities

Parents' Council
The Parents' Council supports Providence by promoting the mission and philosophy of the School, by fostering community between the parents and faculty, by serving the School through both small and large volunteer opportunities, and by raising funds for the scholarship needs of the School.

Grandparents' Day
One of the most important and joy-filled days in the Providence school year is the day in which the School honors grandparents or those who have filled a grandparent's role in the lives of Providence students. On this day we gather together as a community and watch as Classes One through Eight perform various hymns and recitations. It is a special time for students to demonstrate to grandparents some of what that they have learned at school.

Fall Projects
These projects provide an opportunity for those in the younger grades to work on a project through which family members and friends can pass along skills, interests, and hobbies to their children. Our students' proudly display their fall projects at Grandparents' Day.
